Is this the end?
28 01 2008We heard this week that Barrow is on the list of schools to be reviewed by the Local Authority, Shropshire County Council, for possible closure under their newly-approved “Primary Schools for the Future” policy. If selected for closure the school will cease to exist at the end of the summer term 2009. This would bring an end to 390 years of education in the Parish of Barrow. See British History Online
The staff are feeling ’shell-shocked’ especially as the effect of the official line from the authority was that we (along with our parents and pupils) should hear the news from the local media first.
The governors of the school together with the parent body are preparing to fight any possible closure threat.
The campaign to save our school and all of the others schools affected by this would welcome your comments of support.

Well it seems the council have stopped their plans to close small schools.
Hopefully with this in mind, more children will start to come to this wonderfull school and we’ll get the number of children we used to have.
The staff are wonderfull.
Any parents please call in and get a prospectus, I’m sur Mr Fenton will let you have one.
Keep up the good work Barrow!
Hi There, Fellow barrow pupils, ex pupils and parents.
Something needs to be done about advertising the school. As the school staff can not do this. I myself am on a rampage. Every parent with a young child I see I talk to, and here is what I say.
“Barrow Primary school is not a private school it’s a state school. It is ranked 5th on the list of excellent schools where John Wilkinson is only 24th and Dark Lane is 58th”. Surely by spreading this information parents of young child must listen. They also need to be told that the school is safe if more young children get enrolled.
The thought’s of parents I have already spoken to is ” what is the point in enrolling my child there when the school is closing.”
Something needs to be done now !!! who’s with me? lets spread the word and spread it loud. Keep wearing them blue ribbons.
